Paros is situated in central Cyclades. It
is built in traditional architectural rhythm and its
beautiful beaches were many times accredited with
national and European prizes. Beauty of nature and
peacefulness, in combination with its famous night
life, promises the ideal vacation.
One of the most ancient monuments of the early
Christian period - Temple of "Panagia Ekatontapyliani"
- is situated just a little further from Parikia's
port. Saint Helen, Mother of Emperor Constantinos,
found shelter on Paros Island and was kept safe during
her quest for the Holy Cross in Jerusalem. The Emperor
built the Temple to honour his mother's pledge to
the Holy Mother for saving her.
On our way to "Marathi" village, one can
find Paros' Ancient Quarries. This marble was used
for several famous sculptures of antiquity like Hermes
of Praxitelis, Aphrodite of Milos, Temple of Apollo
in Delphi and Delos Island, Temple of Zeus in Olympia,
etc.
"Lefkes" village is situated on the highest
point of the island. An ancient road of the Byzantine
era connects "Lefkes with "Prodromos"
village is well preserved and offers a pleasant walk
for all trekking fans.
You can also visit the Archaeological Museum
of Cycladic Folk Art Collection in "Naoussa"
village, the Museum of Cycladic Folk Art, the Art
Collection of Byzantine Era, and the Museum of Aegean
Folk Civilization, all of which contain preserved
items of great archaeological and historical significance.
